By Space and Sea – The Future of Travel

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Marriott Rewards Credit Card from Chase for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Curiosity, discovery, and excitement for the unknown are the reasons why I travel. To venture outside my comfort zone and uncover new places stimulates my senses and makes me come alive.

When I think about the future of travel – where I’ll be able to go in years to come – the possibilities evoke that same great sensation.

A new survey released by Marriott Rewards Credit Card from Chase asked Americans to imagine the near future and predict what the travel experience could look like by the year 2030 – and their awesome expectations are on par with my own!

Travel of the Future

First of all, let’s talk about space! Richard Branson and billion-dollar companies have been working on leisure space travel for a few years now, and it seems to be closer than ever to reality.

Thirty-five percent of those surveyed believe it’s a possibility to travel to a destination in space–with men more likely to make this prediction than women (40% vs. 29%).

I don’t know if I could ever skydive from space like Felix Baumgartner did in 2012, but could you imagine the likes you’d get on social media with a selfie on the moon!

Beam me up Scotty!

From above the ozone, to under the sea, among travel experiences of the future, 40% think underwater hotels might become more of a reality in the next 15 years.

I’ve already seen a few hotels that feature underwater suites that look absolutely incredible, but full-on underwater hotels would be so epic!

How insane would it be to watch a whale swim by as you come out of the shower, or maybe a pod of dolphins peeking into your window as you’re watching TV?

In this same mind frame, the survey also said that about half of all travelers (51%) believe extreme hotel experiences, such as a private hut over the ocean or taking a zip line to your tree house will be possible.

I’ve stayed in jungle lodges in the Amazon and salt hotels in Bolivia, and they are hands down the most fun experiences of my life.

I am dying to try the igloos in Iceland and beach bungalows in Fiji, and hopefully the access to new extreme hotel experiences become more readily available.

From unique travel experiences to putting the real in virtual reality, the top predictions reveal some surprises and I can’t wait to be a part of it all!

Along with the opportunities for new destinations and hotel concepts, technology will inevitably change the way we travel as well. As shown in the survey, security and efficiency is predicted to improve in the year 2030!
