The New World

To many, the United States of America still exerts fascination. The American way of life, the vast country with its beautiful landscapes and last but most certainly not least, the opportunities there, are just some of the more prominent factors that still make the United States an attractive country to visit and migrate to. During the early days of the republic, as well as today, immigration formed the backbone of the US population and workforce. Workers from all over the world were what made this nation grow: Many forget that national achievements would not have been possible if it were not for them; be it the Pacific railroad, laid down chiefly by Chinese workers, or the countless scientists, who have left or fled their home countries and subsequently furthered the scientific efforts in the USA, (eg. The Space Race).

America for All

Technically, ‘America’ refers to the entire continent, also including Central and Latin America and its beautiful countries, such as Bolivia and Peru. However, due to the diverse composition of their population and their historical achievements, the United States have developed a unique self-conception of their country. Among the many things Americans take pride in is their diversity, and the possibility for anyone to become a US citizen. Certainly, gaining citizenship, or a green card involves (at times) difficult bureaucracy, but there are websites that have more detail about the whole process and that will provide helpful guidance.

The Time is Now

Bureaucracy also entails that the process might take a while, so it would be wise to start it as early as possible if you are planning on making a trip to the United States. Especially for overseas work experience or if you want to partake in slow travel as visa rules differ from nation to nation. If the bureaucratic aspect of travelling sounds a bit daunting, then you can always ask for advice from Embassies or consulates.
